EDITING THEORY AND TECHNIQUES FOR THE MODERN AGE OF MEDIA

“The Art of the Cut” will immerse students in both the technical and theoretical aspects of editing footage for film and television. In this course, students will learn to utilize editing software through a series of exercises and projects that will give them first-hand experience with creating works using the industry’s editing processes. Students will finish the class with a selection of their own edited works, such as a music video created by cutting together raw industry footage provided by the instructor. During workshops, students will receive and incorporate feedback form the instructor to improve their editing skills and expand their ability to weave narrative through their editing workflow.

    Learn the key elements of engaging storytelling including character creation, 3-act story arc design, premise development, and genre analysis.

    ADVANCED EDITING TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES

    Develop your original ideas for a short film by generating a premise, plot, and characters under the guidance of a Hollywood writer.

  • MODULE THREE

    INTRO TO VFX

    Create a set of characters in a world that can inspire multiple stories and plots for an episodic show fit for TV or digital streaming.
